Alyssa's F-4 Phantom
I hadn't built any models in a while, and I had started working again and I needed to get some paint so I brought Alyssa along with me. I figured it had been a while since she built a model so I let her pick one out. She liked the F-4 in Thunderbird colors, so we picked it up.
Now that Alyssa had some models under her belt, she was a bit more capable building this one. I needed to help her with a few spots, but she was able to most of the work herself. I still cut the parts off the spruce, but Alyssa was able to read the instructions and find all the parts herself.
Another plane ready for takeoff
I am always amused at how they make these models more appealing to kids, and the addition of the missiles and fuel tanks were a nice touch. I suppose this Thunderbird is going to do a little extra for the next airshow.
So now, Alyssa has put the model next to her computer monitor. She's usually into girls stuff like dolls and craft things, but she's got a soft spot for airplanes.
A Word from the Modeler
Since I can't let Alyssa get away with not saying something, here's her comments on the model:
I went with my dad to get the model at the store. My airplane is so cool. I like the colors of it. And my dad helped me build it. I don't really do anything with it. I use it as decoration by my computer.
I know she doesn't want her friends to know, but she really likes building models with me.
