Alyssa's Police Cruiser

The last time I took the girls to get models, Alyssa said she wanted to try something other than an airplane. I suggested a car, and she liked that idea. So off to the car aisle we went. She went back and forth between a police cruiser and a fire truck, and she settled on the cruiser. This is a 2005 Chevy Impala in police livery.

This one was a little more challanging than previous models. The rear view windows were particularly hard, especially for a child '8 and up.' I had to help her with a few things, but overall she did a really good job with getting it together. I think she liked that you can see the insides, with the dashboard and the computer. I thought it was a nice touch too.

The car came with markings for two different cars, but who wants to be limited to just one choice? Alyssa looked at her sticker and came up with her own design. I think it looks pretty good, espically the triple lines the side. I wish more police departments would try to spruce up their livery a little more. Black and white might be pretty boring, but you could add a little pizzaz to give it a unique touch.

Overall, this is a great model. Alyssa did a good job, and she is learning to have paitence with working on difficult tasks.

A Word from the Modeler

As usual, here's Alyssa's thoughts on building the model:

This is my police car that I built with my dad. It's awesome! This was not very easy to put together, but my dad helped me so I finished it. I love it.

So, I think this is the first car I bought for Alyssa. I don't think she ever wanted a toy car, so she got her first car at age 9. Not bad.
