Pinky
This model has a little bit of a story behind it. If you want to know about the model, go to my Thoren page. This model was built for my daughter, at my wife's request. You see, after seeing my Thoren model, my wife asked me to build my daughter a pink version. I resisted for about a month. I mean, pink? No way.
Well, obviously I didn't have the willpower to withstand "The Pouty FaceTM", and that oh so pityful "Please" for very long. I just gave in.
Oh, come on, like you could resist.
She wanted it to be all pink, but I figured that it needed some spice. So when I was at the paint rack, I saw what there was to get. I found a nice Napoleonic Purple to go with the Piping Pink I picked, and went to town. There are a few other colors, like the gun and the missles that stick out. There are a couple spots of blue around the cockipt too.
I didn't spend a lot of time making this model, since it was mostly for fun. Even after a slight rush job, I only had a few seams that show. If I had put in about another 30 minutes of work it would have turned out great, but I was lazy. The decals were also a problem. The other Thoren model had good decals, but these were crap. The glue didn't stick worth anything, and they didn't want to come off the sheet. I think they may have been in a high humidity area and just crapped out.
Those extra touches
So, as you can see there are a couple extra 'special' decals on there. I figured that this was for a girl, so I had to make it girly. I swiped the bunny from something called 'Happy Bunny.' It's a line of clothes, bags, notebooks, and other items that have cute little bunnies and sarcastic sayings on them. I liked the bunny, so I edited a picture I got online to make the decal.
The heart is also something I found online, I just changed the color. Overall, I'd say that it turned out pretty well. I just wish the decals had been better. Although my daughter is too young to really appreciate it, I'm sure she'll think it's cool once she gets older.
